The World Tour Qualification Series (TQS) schedule has been announced today. In addition to teams holding a Tour Card there are two alternative ways to gain an entry to the Tour. The first is to apply directly to the event promoter for one of their Wild Cards, all events have at least two, and the second is to take part in a TQS event. Each Tour event will invite two skippers from their designated qualifiers.
The latest MeetingSpot event was carried through by Brandspot in Gothenburg on the 30th of January.

The 2009 Tour schedule is now up to ten events spanning ten countries and over US$1.2 million in total prize money. The World Match Racing Tour is pleased to announce that Marseille International Match Race (MIMR) has been added as the tenth stop on the 2009 Tour season schedule. The event, organized by the Yachting Club de Point Rouge (YCPR) and supported by the City of Marseille, will be held over 10 – 15 March and is the first event of this year’s Tour.
The World Match Racing Tour has announced its schedule of events for 2009, the total prize purse for the 2009 Tour season now stands at over $1.5 million, the largest in the sport. The overall winner of the Tour will be crowned 2009 ISAF Match Racing World Champion.
A new Tour Newsletter was recently released with info on the Monsoon Cup and reviews form both Bermuda and Portugal. The article form Bermuda includes a very happy Johnie Berntsson.
The World Match Racing Tour has announced a new invite policy for the 2009 season that rewards skippers and teams with guaranteed entries on the series for next year, “This is an unprecedented change in the way the World Tour provides entries to its events” explained Craig Mitchell, World Tour Director “for the first time, skippers and teams will have a clear path to win the World Championship, and to guarantee to their sponsors a schedule of participation”
Even though it is cold outside the planning for Match Cup Sweden 2009 is running at high speed. We now have confirmation for the dates next summer. Match Cup Sweden 2009 takes place during week 27, from the 29th June to 5th July 2009.
