Jenny Axhede’s sixth place on the world ranking 2007, including the victory in Portugal and the silver in the Swedish Championship, has really whetted her appetite. Jenny wants to put even more efforts in Match Racing this year and now searches for partners. The crew has their fixed goal:
”We want to reach fifth place or better on the world tour, and win one grade 1 event”

The historical Swedish winner of Match Cup Sweden 2007 has now received
another trophy. Björn Hansen was recently awarded the Swedish sailor of 2007.
The prizewinning sailor has no hesitation about the highlight of the successful
year:
“The highlight last year was Match Cup Sweden in Marstrand, it was in my
home waters and it felt great to perform such results there. Since I sailed in
Marstrand my first time, in 1994, I had dreamt of winning the event.”

nineteen events which will act as official qualifier regattas to the
ten stages of the 2008 World Match Racing Tour.

The World Match Racing Tour is pleased to announce the inaugural Korea Match Cup from 11-15th June this year in Jeongok, Hwasung City in the Gyeonggi Province of Korea, approximately 45 kilometres South West of Seoul. The event will be staged in conjunction with a boat show, part of a US$232m government initiative to expand and promote the leisure boating industry in Korea including the construction of four large scale marinas. The British Marine Federation, organisers of the successful London and Southampton Boat Shows in the UK, are assisting with the planning of the show in Jeongok.

The World Match Racing Tour will host an exclusive exhibition match race regatta in Qingdao, China as part of ‘Celebration China’, a unique festival being held as a prequel to the 2008 Olympic sailing events at the end of April in Qingdao.
Celebration China was officially launched yesterday at a press conference in Beijing.

The World Match Racing Tour has announced its schedule of events for 2008 including a new Tour stage in Korea with over $320,000 in prize money. The total prize purse for the 2008 Tour season now stands at $1,720.000, the largest in the sport. The prize purse has increased by over 20% from 2007. . The overall winner of the Tour will be crowned 2008 ISAF Match Racing World Champion. The schedule of events is as follows:
