The match racers Björn Hansen and Magnus Holmberg won their three initial matches in Brazil, the second last stage of the World Match Racing Tour, before the racing was discontinued due to strong winds and rough waves.
The Stockholm based sailor Björn Hansen mastered the tough conditions well, just as he did winning Match Cup Sweden in Marstrand this summer.

Match Cup Sweden recently signed an agreement with World Childhood Foundation that makes them the Official Charity of the sailing event. The agreement grants them a yearly donation from Match cup Sweden.
“It feels great for us, as an international sailing event, to take an active social responsibility and contribute to Childhood’s efforts”, states Jan Torstenson, Managing Director at Brandspot who arranges Match Cup Sweden.

The world championship in Match race sailing, World Match Racing Tour, will have ten stages, 20 qualifying events and eight women’s events – and more prize money.
- It’s a step designed to give more sail racers an opportunity to step up to the championship events.
"Our aim is to further enhance the number of top sailors and increase the quality of the World Tour,” explains Scott MacLeod, President of the World Match Racing Tour.

Frenchman wins first Gold Cup with defeat of Hansen; Baird takes 3rd over Walker
Bermuda (Oct. 14, 2007) — Mathieu Richard of France became the third consecutive first-time winner of the King Edward VII Gold Cup today when he defeated Sweden’s Björn Hansen, 2-0.
