The match racers Björn Hansen and Magnus Holmberg won their three initial matches in Brazil, the second last stage of the World Match Racing Tour, before the racing was discontinued due to strong winds and rough waves. The Stockholm based sailor Björn Hansen mastered the tough conditions well, just as he did winning Match Cup Sweden in Marstrand this summer.
He beat both Portuguese sailors Daniel Glomb and Alvaro Marinho and
French female sailor Claire Leroy. Magnus Holmberg took one of his
three victories over top Briton sailor Ian Williams. The sailing
conditions will calm during Thursday. Björn Hansen, who has his best
international sailing year ever, still has the chance to win the world
championship in Match Racing |
