The Princess’ boat was run by supreme Swedish sailor Jenny Axhede, so far unbeaten in Match Cup Sweden. In spite of the star skipper they did not end up in top. Princess Madeleine was satisfied, even though she did not win. “It was great fun to sail for Childhood on such a beautiful day.”
The sailing was based on a fleet racing format where all boats started simultaneously and sailed towards a rounding mark where they were to pick up a flag. First boat back over the finish line with the flag safely on board wins each race. But even though the celebrities weren’t too keen on picking up the right flags, it was just great entertainment for the spectators.
The boats sailed very tight towards the flags and the world class skippers really tried their best in the duels to help their crew to pick the flags. The Princess was not too troubled that the Childhood boat did not end up higher in the scoreboard. “We had great team spirit on board, it was a great crew. Now I look forward the seminar this afternoon”, said Princess Madeleine.
Also the hockey keeper Henrik Lundqvist sailed on the Childhood boat. He admitted some lack of knowledge regarding this kind of racing. “I am not used to sailing.”
Winner was the Stena Line boat that ended up first and second in today’s two races. Castellum with skipper Ian Williams and the artist Stefan Andersson on board was first runner up. Famous Swedish sailor and boat designer Pelle Petterson was helming the Pelle P-boat that ended up last in the score sheet, assisted by new upcoming Match racing star Anna Kjellberg.
