The conditions were fine for Match Racing this Saturday morning at Marstrand. The winds were easterly and light, so the skippers had to use all their tactics to secure victory. First out in the second flight was World champion and Round Robin winner Claire Leroy against Linda Rahm. Leroy managed to find the wind in the middle of the bay and caught the lead all ready on the first upwind. Rahm couldn’t narrow the space and Leroy won comfortably.
The rookie Anna Kjellberg had a victory against experienced Jenny Axhede from the first race. That meant that Axhede had to pull things together and sharpen the shape. In the pre-start Axhede got a penalty when she tried to catch a better starting place. The race was even and it looked like Kjellberg was about to win since Axhede had to take her penalty. But in the last rounding Axhede hade the lead, took her penalty and caught the lead. Kjellberg was close to equalize, but she didn’t make it before the finish line.
