Torvar Mirsky – Mathieu Richard 2-0
Second
flight in Match Cup Sweden’s
semi-finals was won by Magnus Holmberg against Mattias Rahm, and Torvar Mirsky
against Mathieu Richard. That means both Rahm and Richard have to take three
straight wins each to get a spot in the Final in Match Cup Sweden 2008. Sunday morning at Marstrand is cloudy and a bit windier then yesterdays Women’s Final. Approximately 12 knots south-westerly winds, reports speaker Björn Alm.
In the second race between Magnus Holmberg and Mattias Rahm the boats showed a funny dance in the pre-start. Just in front of the starting line Rahm’s mast touched Holmberg’s sail, and therefore Rahm got a penalty. That could mean a lot in the semi-final, since Holmberg already had an advantage through his victory in the first race. But Holmberg sailed very fast and controlled the race from start. Rahm couldn’t claim the penalty for the loss. “He is overexcited” says his wife Linda Rahm in the speakers.
In the race between Mathieu Richard and Torvar Mirsky
the young Australian caught the victory. Richard has been sailing very well
during the week, winning Round-Robin and three straight victories in the
semi-finals, but today he doesn’t show the same shape. Mirsky outshined Richard
in the start, and controlled the match. Richard neared the space on the last
downwind leg, and were just a couple of meters after Mirsky while crossing the
finish line. But that was not enough. If he doesn’t pull things together in the
next race he will be out. |
