Both Magnus Holmberg and Torvar Mirsky had a knock-out opportunity in the fourth flight in the Semi-Finals in Match Cup Sweden 2008. But the two fighters Mathieu Richard and Mattias Rahm didn’t let the victories away. Good fighting spirit from the two behind means that all four of them have two wins each. Now we’re looking forward to the last and settling flight.
The race between Torvar Mirsky and Mathieu Richard ended up with a thrilling fight on the finish line. Richard got a really annoying start due to having crossed the too early. He had to turn around, re-start and on the top of it he got a penalty. But he proved he is a fantastic sailor and managed to equalize and pass Mirsky. On the last downwind leg he was some 16 seconds ahead, reported speaker Martin Sothell, and the spectators awaited an exciting finish. Richard had to take his penalty and it was not at all for certain that he was going to make it and still keep the lead. In the end the French passed the line only meters in front of chasing Mirsky.
Like Richard, Mattias Rahm also had to win. He was more relaxed this time and didn’t show any nerves. Magnus Holmberg was fast on the downwind leg and the race was even, but Rahm eventually got it.
